#RooRxn to Obama's State of the Union Address
by Adam Jutha
For our ideas,
Monday, January 24, 2011
Tuesday evening at 9:00pm EST, millions of Americans and the larger international community will join together to listen to President Barack Obama deliver his second State of the Union Address (SOTU).
Roosevelt students across the nation will be doing exactly the same thing. We'd like to strongly recommend and encourage you to throw together a viewing party for your friends and fellow students on your campus. What better way to watch the Address than with other passionate students?
Whether you're in Florida, California or Massachusetts, this is one key event that unites us all. It's not just our region that has this event planned. Chapters across the country are doing exactly this same thing. Hundreds of students will get together to watch the Address on their campuses.
This is a national event and we want to bring our chapters across the country together through this. So the viewing is one thing. Equally, if not more exciting, is the post-Address event!
We'll be having a post-SOTU Twitter discussion for students all over the country. We want your reaction. We want to hear your opinions. We want your voice.
How is this working?
1) Create a Twitter account if you don't have one already and encourage your friends to do the same.
2) Follow the hashtag #RooRxn - this will be used for tomorrow's Address and future events that deserve Roo reaction and discussion.
3) During and following the Address, let's spark some discussion - with everyone using the #RooRxn hashtag - to share our opinions and thoughts about the Address.
Spread the word to Roosevelters and other students alike. Let's make our voices heard. On behalf of the regional field teams, I know I can say we are looking forward to an exciting and thought-provoking Twitter discussion. See you in the Twitter world!
