Working With RI at MHC

There are a lot of ways to engage, empower and promote, and more than one way to get involved with Roosevelt at MHC.  Below we have listed just a few of the ways to get started.  For more info on what Roosevelt is all about, feel free to look through the rest of the website or get in touch with the chapter contacts.

Policy

Better government means better ideas.  Currently MHC chapter members are working on policy in various areas.  Our meetings often include breakout sessions for working on policy as well as sessions for discussing ideas.  Student activism doesn't have to be based in campaigning, and writing policy is a great way to legitimize and advocate your ideas for change.

There are many opportunities to publish policy, including Roosevelt journals.  The deadline to submit to the 10 Ideas Series this academic year is February 3rd, 2010.

Blogging

Have something to say?  Get published on the Roosevelt website and get heard.  For help getting started, talk to someone on the leadership team and we can work on brainstorming.  And always a great resource, policy center strategists are available to help.

Also be sure to look at the chapter toolbox for a guide to blogging (under the "Starting a Chapter" section)

Events

The MHC chapter has hosted a variety of events with different formats and topics.  These events have included "Fireside Chats", guest speakers and policy discussions and workshops.  Events are open to chapter members as well as the campus community, including the Five Colleges.

Attendance is not the only way to participate in Roosevelt events.  If you have an idea for an event let us know!  Our chapter is open to hosting and sponsoring events of interest.
