Kevin J. Powers is a Roosevelt alumnus and staff legislative consultant currently working for a member of the California State Assembly. Kevin's policy areas include Higher Education, Biotechnology, and Emergency Management & Homeland Security. Prior to working in the State Legislature, Kevin was a Fellow and Associate with the California Public Interest Research Group, and served as a Field Director on CALPIRG's successful ballot campaign to bring High-Speed Rail to the Golden State.

A graduate of the University of California, Davis, Kevin received an A.B. in Political Science and read for minors in English, History, and Global and International Studies. While studying at UC Davis, Kevin served as the Chief of Staff of the Associated Students (ASUCD) and sat on the University of California’s Student Regent Selection Committee. Kevin was a Fellow, Center Director, and Board Member of UC Davis' Roosevelt Institute chapter, and served on the Roosevelt national staff as Legislative Director of the Western Region.

Outside of work Kevin serves in the California State Military Reserve, sits on the Sacramento County Democratic Party's Committee on Volunteer Service, and is an Assistant Tae Kwon Do Instructor.
